Welcome to IT ResNet! IT ResNet is a service provided by Information Technology. IT ResNet provides the cable, phone and Internet connections in KU residential housing.
How to register for IT ResNet Internet service:
Note: If you are in temporary housing that does not have an Internet connection, you can bring a laptop to the IT ResNet offices in the Burge Union during regular business hours to register. Once you've registered, you will be able to use IT ResNet wireless in the locations listed on www.resnet.ku.edu/wireless/zones.shtml until you move to a room with an Internet connection.
- Make sure you have a KU Online ID: http://www.technology.ku.edu/accounts/index.shtml#id
- Turn off IPv6 and Internet Connection Sharing. Go to http://www.resnet.ku.edu/docs/ipv6.pdf to download instructions about how to disable IPv6 and Internet Connection Sharing.
- Use Firefox during the registration process. If you don't have Firefox installed, you will be given a chance to install it during registration.
- Connect your computer to the wall jack.
- Open Firefox and go to http://www.resnet.ku.edu. Scroll down if necessary until you see the big red CLICK HERE! button.
- Click the CLICK HERE! button and follow the instructions on the screen. The registration process can take as long as 90 minutes if Sophos and Firefox are not installed on the machine.
- If you are using a non-English version of Windows, you may see an error after the Sophos scan has been run, telling you that your computer still needs to be scanned. If you see this error, call ResNet at 785-812-0000 (2-0000 from your room) for assistance.
