Welcome to ResNet
ResNet provides the cable, phone and Internet connections in KU residential housing.
Important information for ResNet customers: We have seen several issues with computers which have already registered correctly through ResNet, after some time lose their connectivity. We have found that by disabling the IPv6 connections on Windows Vista and Mac OS, students can regain their services. Please click here to download instructions on how to disable IPv6 settings
Before you come to KU
There are some things you can do in advance to make your ResNet registration easier:
- You must use the Mozilla Firefox web browser when you register for ResNet. To save time during registration, please download and install Firefox from www.getfirefox.com
- Make sure you have the latest version of Sophos antivirus installed on your computer. If you are already using Sophos antivirus, check to see which version you are using by right-clicking on the Sophos shield, choosing Open Sophos Anti-Virus and looking at the version number in the Status area on the left side of the Sophos screen. If you are using version 7.x, you are using the latest version. If not, uninstall your current version and install the new version at http://www.security.ku.edu/antivirus/download.jsp.
- Windows computers: We recommend that you install Windows Updates before coming to KU. To do this, open Internet Explorer, click on the Tools pull-down menu, then choose Windows Updates from the menu. If you're prompted to update Windows components before continuing, do so. Eventually, you will arrive at a screen with an Express button and a Custom button. Click on the Express button and follow the prompts to install the updates. Once updates are installed, repeat the process until there are no more updates for your computer.
- Read and print the ResNet Registration Guide.
If you have any questions, please contact the ResNet help desk at 812-0000 or send a message to resnet@ku.edu.
