How to Register Your Computer to Access the Internet at KU
-
After your computer is configured to obtain an IP address
automatically (DHCP), open a web browser and go to the website
http://www.resnet.ku.edu.
-
Either click the 'Register Online' button near the top of the page,
or simply enter your KU Online ID and password in the login form at
the top of the page.
If you decide to click the 'Register Online' button, you will need to enter
login information on the following page. Once this step is completed,
you should now be logged in to the ResNet account management portal.
-
From this page you will be presented with everything about your ResNet account.
Click 'Add This Computer'.
Note: If you have already registered and have gotten a new computer since then,
be sure to click 'Update Registration' or YOU WILL BE BILLED TWICE for the two
separate computers in our system.
-
At this point, the subsequent pages will contain information pertaining to their requests.
You will have to enter in some information and pass a security checkpoint.
-
After passing the security checkpoint, you should have an activation code. This activation code, in
most cases, is automatically injected into the web application, so you won't necessarily have to write it down.
-
After the activation code is generated, completing the registration process is as easy as a few clicks of a button.
You must agree to the ResNet Responsible Use Agreement, and you must enter your room number and phone number.
-
When you complete the registration process you will be presented with a receipt which you may want to print.
You will also receive the receipt via e-mail.
-
Congratulations! Your computer is now registered with ResNet
and can access the Internet. At this time, please wait about 5 minutes for the registration to take effect.
If you are having problems accessing the Internet after 10 minutes, then try rebooting your computer.
If you are still having problems accessing the Internet after rebooting
your computer, then you may contact the ResNet Help Line at 812-0000 or 2-0000 if on campus.
