Dialing Information
  • On Campus Dialing: 4 + Last 4 digits of office numbers. 2 + Last 4 digits of student numbers
  • Local Dialing: 8 + Number
  • Long Distance We no longer offer long distance PIN number dialing. You may use a calling card of your choice. Please refer to the instructions on your calling card.
  • Toll Free Dialing: 8 + 1+ Number
  • KU Police Department: 4-5900
  • Emergency Services: 911
General Information
  • 900 Numbers: These numbers cannot be dialed from campus phones.
  • Collect Calls: Receipt of collect and 3rd party calls are not allowed on campus phones.
  • National Do Not Call Registry: Students who find telemarketing calls annoying now have a way to eliminate most of those calls. more info
Voice Features
  • Caller ID:
    • To Campus from Lawrence - You will see the telephone number and name (if available).
    • To Lawrence from Campus - Calls placed to off-campus numbers will identify you with your telephone number and the name "University of Kansas".
  • Caller ID Blocking: For off-campus calls if you do not wish to send your Calling Party Number (also known as Automatic Number Identification, or ANI) on a particular off-campus call, you may dial *67 followed by 8 + the off-campus number you wish to call. Call recipients will see "unknown" instead of your telephone number. ANI display for off-campus calls is restored when you hang up.
  • Call Waiting: When you hear a beep while on a call, tap the switch hook and dial # 9 to switch between callers. If finished with the first call, simply hang up and the second call will ring through. TO CANCEL CALL WAITING/ FOR MODEM CALLS, pick up handset and dial 113 followed by the number you wish to call, or include 113 in your modem's dialing command. Call waiting is restored when you hang up.
  • Hold: To place a call on hold, tap the switch hook and dial #9. Lay the handset down. To take the call off hold, simply hang up. Your held call will ring back automatically, or you may tap the switch hook and dial #9 again to get the held call back.
  • Last Number Redial: Press # 8 to redial your last-called CAMPUS, LOCAL OFF-CAMPUS, or LONG DISTANCE number.

*For your security, we do not give out PIN numbers over the phone. Your KUID will need to be presented when requesting a new pin.
